"Weight of Glory" : A Flashback

Reflection from March 9, 2013:

Today we are tracking background vocals to the new title track of this album, "Weight of Glory." The name of this song may sound familiar to you because it's the one I sing in my promo video for this Kickstarter page.

I was thinking, I was reading, and I've realized that 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (some of the verses upon which this song is based) is one of my favorite passages in Scripture.

"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NASB)

There is so much in this world that seems so impossible. There is so much we don't understand (and may never understand), yet in spite of the struggle, and in spite of the pain, we hold on to hope--we press toward the goal, and we run with endurance the race that has been set before us. We run for an eternal crown, for a prize that will never decay or tarnish, a glory that will never fade..."for (our) momentary and light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison..." HIS glory.

And in that day, when we see Him, we will be made like Him.
